Once Was Blood - Poem by Allison Bartlett

Thinking about hot steam
Tickling my face
The slide
Of a pink lady bic
Lost in burning water
Its pattern of dripping
Salty liquid
Spreading like lava
Exposed
Gasping
For air
Another chance
Life
The way that I once was.
