P/H Blues Poem by Herbert Nehrlich

P/H Blues

Rating: 3.6

At first you look without success
inside the inbox, what a mess!
But no one sent you any news
so is it time for P/H Blues?
Then you wake up and do recall
that inboxes are not at all
the only place you ought to peek
if it is company you seek.
Go to the forum, look around
you'll find dull Rupert and the Hound
and some who are ashamed to show
their true identities, you know.
Then, when you get so sad and bored
just knowing that you are ignored
you saunter to the page where some
post poems, half of which are dumb.
But, worry not, you'll always find
the fruits of a poetic mind.
And, like a veil that's lifted high
you kiss the P/H Blues good bye,
and within minutes you're immersed
in stanzas, rhymed or loosely versed.
You see the brilliance, all its worth
and wish you'd seen the actual birth.
Each poem as it starts to live
and takes its breath with which to give
itself some immortality
was made by a proud entity
and like a child craves human nods
and in the end, beats all the odds.
How dare those who will judge with eyes
another's skin, and spread new lies
it pays to smile at every creature
but you must be your only teacher.

and didn't I do just the same this morning, then lighted on this life-affirming poem? Thanks, Herbert. 'A good deed in a naughty world.'

This is me all over, Herbs. Well and truly. A poem with a lot of meaning for me (and for many others, I would think) . Warm regards, Gina.

Thanks Herbert. I suppose jewels wouldn't be precious, if you didn't have to dig under the dirt for them! Love and light Anthony

Bet I'm not the only one who's partial to a bit of Nehrlich cake with their muesli.: -) Sweetingly, Gina.

How true to PHers your poem is...some of us new, some old hands, some good writers and some stink-o's. What a pleasure, a thrill it is tho' when you finally find that one true 'Gem' of a poem. Keep up the great work. Scarlett

Herbert, thank you! I've been 'here' for just over two wks. and already, this is my experience - the inbox (sigh or surprise!) , the poems (good/bad/ugly to include my own!) and sometimes to the forum. I'm new to poetry writing, so thank you for those words of wisdom at the end. (And God bless Gina! ! !)

Thank y'all for the kind words. I was especially pleased by the rare visitor. But, those visits always are inspirational. What prompted this poem was that that lovely girl from England Gina complained to me about having to go through breakfast without my usual breakfast poem. Being the accomodating kind of fellow who enjoys the imagined smiles of others.... Best wishes H
