Pray For Mercy Little Prey Poem by Susan Williams

Pray For Mercy Little Prey

Rating: 5.0

.
I creep forward
on silent paws
silly little creature
you are being watched
and you don't know it
don't sense it
but I
I see everything
I know
what is in the dark
I know
what's melting from shadow to shadow
I know
what's coming through the night
and
what's around the corner
waiting
.
I shiver and I quiver
there is something
evil
coming
through the dark
to get me
to eat me
while I am still alive
but where it is
I do not know
what it is
I do not know
where I can hide
my quivering soul
.
I am closer now
so much closer now
can you feel my presence now
silly little creature
I am your Nemesis
I am your Fate
I am the Nightmare
of your Faith
you are the hunted
and I am the Huntress
and I hunt
in secret
in the dark of night
if your number is up
I will find you
and I will eat you
and then I will kill you
dead
.
.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This is an old poem I found wandering around in an old notebook--there are two voices in this poem, one is the predator, the other is the prey

I wanted to make the reader uneasy and then spooked---it seems I succeeded with you, M.J. which makes my day, my friend!

Your absolutely suspenseful poem stars off on a humorous note making me smile. And then switches to Predator... making me sit on the edge of my seat. I almost fell off by the time I reached the end. Thoroughly entertaining! Loved every line! at

Part 2.. So picturesque to the minutest detail, I felt a dread gripping my soul as I read through

I tried hard to give the readers a very uncomfortable-looking-over-the-shoulder read! ! ! I do hope the dread faded away, my dear friend--I would not want to harm your day in any way
