Rasputin - Ρασπούτιν Poem by Kostas Lagos

Rasputin - Ρασπούτιν

Rating: 5.0

Out of siberian frost

came a man in cassock

A pilgrim of mystery

to shake an empire

A demon cloaked

in human shape

No weapon or venom

could take his life away

Who was he really

what powers did he hold

Mystic, salacious, conspirator

A shadow born of darkness

or just a madman?

ή μήπως απλά ένας τρελός;

An unequivocal and magnificently explicit, very powerful and chilling picture of a monster. Impeccably written and impossible to forget. Descriptive writing at its best!

I have read about Rasputin. Some persons have extra sensory powers. Those who are aware of their own such powers utilize them to make or mar their life. Rasputin was certainly an extra ordinary person. You have built at nice imagery on him in this poem. Good poem piece 10+

Rasputin was primarily hated because of his influence over the tsar and his wife, because the czar's wife believed he was the only one who could treat her sons medical condition. Plus it is said he smelled like a goat which I am sure did not add to his popularity. Your words capture Rasputin at his engnimatic best.
