Rubaiyat (2) Before The Phantom / Omar Khayyam
Before the phantom of False morning died,
Methought a Voice within the Tavern cried,
'When all the Temple is prepared within,
Why nods the drowsy Worshipper outside? '
Hindi translation by Rajnish Manga follows:
रात ने अपना सफर तय कर लिया है सुब्ह दम
अंदर सराए में कहीं कोई कह रहा है सुब्ह दम
दिल के अंदर ही इबादतगाह जब मौला की है
क्यों सुने जो भी मुअज्ज़िन कह रहा है सुब्ह दम

You nailed it with perfection...Awesome translation....Hats Off....10++++
A captivating second stanza to the poem of hedonism. 'Before life's liqour in its cup be dry'. Tremendous translation.
The God beyond religion. The true essence of Sufism. Really a melodious and soulful translation.
You are right, Dear Friend. I am a great fan of Omar Khayyam and his immortal Rubaiyat.
O ho! Fantastic verse, Rajnish ji. This is the essence of the Vedas and the Upanishads. When the God is seated deep within us, why are we frantically running here and there, in search of temples? Ironically, i was searching for your Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam for quite a while. Glad i found it. Like a Bhakta searching for God! A full 100, dear Rajnish ji.
