Ireland, Ireland,
Together standing tall
Shoulder to Shoulder
We'll answer Ireland's call.
Ireland, Ireland,
Enjoy this special day,
With peace, and harmony and trust.
It was St. Patrick's way.
Ireland, Ireland,
There is a chapel dear to me
Upon our rocky shore
It watches o'er the Irish Sea
And shall for ever more.
I think there must be a bit of Ireland in most people! I have no idea if I have a blood link to the Emerald Isle but my heart responds to its cheerfulness, its bittersweetness, its absolutely stunning Thoroughbred horses :) Let's all sing it together, some of us louder than others. I love this poem, Tom. I think it reveals that spirit of revelry and comradery and good will in your heart!
I have a slight Irish connexion, apart from my son-in-law who comes from Wexford on Ireland's east coast. My maternal grandfather came from Southern Ireland, about thirty miles north of Wexford. So maybe I have a little of that Irish Spirit. Of course the USA has a strong Irish presence. I love Irish music and their quirky sense of humour.
The spirit of Ireland shines in your verse Tom....a hearty celebration indeed.
It was written partly for my son-in-law who is Irish and in memory of some very brave Irish American firefighters who gave their lives in 9/11. God bless the Emerald Isle.
As long as you celebrated! Hope you had a lovely St Patrick's day!
Singing a long in full voice here Tom good job the neighbours can't hear me.....lol....nice one.
You haven't heard me sing and you wouldn't want to! I was banned from the Music Room at School!

I would like to translate this poem
I do feel a little bit relative to Irish people since I read Robert Grave's conjecture that the mileteans [in Asia Minor] at 1400 b.datum colonized Irland. His arguments and comments to be found in his The greek myths, in penguin edition too..
