A head full of steam
Bubbling, bursting
Thoughts going round
And round silent screams
Rationality caught in a windmill
Swirling, whirling
Churning out smoke.
I remember reading a quote printed at the back of an exercise book that read as - 'Our greatest battles are that with our own minds'.. Stress and anxiety is like that.. We are not fighting with an external force but something insidious.. Try killing it and we might end up killing ourselves.. You have captured the very essence of anxiety in a wonderful manner.. Rationality does disappear when we are under stress.. Our thoughts no longer coherent, our descisions no longer logical, and our lives no longer peaceful.. That is what stress does to us.. A beautifully crafted poem Nosheen. Thanks for sharing.
OMG I can relate to this poem. Life has become so hectic and in this competitive world to survive without being stressed out is a dream in itself. Awesomeeee elaboration called stress.10+++++ for voicing the pain of stress.
Tension slowly builds and finally the head becomes a volcano. Unable to hold any further, the volcano erupts sending out smoke and lava! How sharp is your presentation of stress! Your short poems have an incredible pungency about them!
This poem reminds me of Young's Modulus that stress is directly proportional to strain. You can make out what I mean to say here! Well penned... Top score.

Have you ever caught the insidious power of stress to steadily take over our minds and hearts and render us steaming and helpless. Rationality caught in a windmill - That's what makes it so hard to free yourself - our best weapon against stress is a prisoner of war! Isn't the best solution to simply get as far away from the stressful situation? If the kitchen is a stressful place, leave the house, walk four blocks to the nearest park, go to your favorite spot by the lakeshore, breathe deeply and relax. AHH! That's better!
