Sweet Rascals Poem by Sandhya S.N

Sweet Rascals

Rating: 5.0

It is shocking and abashing
To know the know-how’s of our youth
About the legend, the freedom struggle
And our pride, independence

Their high-tech look, their freaking style
Always remind me the quote
Sweet advertisement quote
With a smile ‘the sweet rascals’

They astonish in their ‘astute’
Their ardent knowledge in ‘history’
Alas! They fail to recognise even
Our pride, our proud brave gallants

They ogle insensible at them
As if they had across strangers
Their face gives an aloof obscene
And argued as antiquated

They give foolish presume on
Brave comrades Bhaghat, and Boss
They slip their tongue and bicker hard
Nehru as Nations’ father

Dear, I am really scarred
To read their mind, to find the fault
Who shall be blamed for them?
To scuttle in demurring threat

What shall I revise further?
Does it have to start from slate?
Where I had first stumbled?
Is it while they first suckled?

Welcome back, Sandhya from that break whatever reason you had to take. Your poetry suggests your creative mind is free and got its independence. You have a nice observation, I think all of us have a responsibility to inform the young kids, about the sacrifices our Leaders made, many of them including ordinary people gave their lives for us. Many have aroused our Patriotic feelings, like A.R.Rehman Jai ho, The movie BHAGWAT SINGH and so on. Give them time, our kids are quite talented, hardworking, efficient and now they are quite aggressive, to keep up with the world. Dont' worry! Our country has a bright future, these Young are bright and have a vision and they do have a nice heart beneath that carefree attitude and they will definitely take us far ahead, and make us proud that we are INDIANS. Jai Ho.

You seem to be a born poet with true sense and beauty to writing...and the flow of words is superb...about the subject of the poem, I agree with you totally...youngsters world wide today are fantazised of an unworthy life mostly...and as Samanyan has put it, the political oldies too are not good enough...let us all pray for a good leader and leadership in the near future...thanks for this lovely poem
