The Calamity Of Black Friday Poem by Practicing Poetess

The Calamity Of Black Friday

Rating: 5.0

Sirens wailing; Traffic jams
People going crazy on Black Friday
Walmart employees trampled to death
Heated arguments over a coveted purchase
Workers walking out
Impossibly long lines in stores and shops
Frazzled nerves
This is not the true spirit of the holidays.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Human lives are more important than merchandise.
When a pregnant woman is knocked to the floor over a toy, then it's gone too far.

Thank you, Eva, for commenting. Back in my parents' day, people used to have Christmas Clubs where they could save money year 'round for Christmas purchases, but I'm not sure too many people have those now. I DID hear one happy news story about Black Friday. A Secret Santa went into a department store, and paid off everyone's layaway purchases! I think Black Friday is all about making £££ for the retailers!
