Oh....
Those adolescent years...
When the poems
Were flowing
Inside the arteries
In search of the unknown...
You cut
A Halabja's* pomegranate
And meditated on
The redness of blood
.........
* Halabja is a town in Kurdistan region, famous for its red pomegranate fruit, bombed with chemical weapons in 1988. The poet was in his early adolescent at that time.
What a trauma (chemical weapons) disturbing your sensitive nature in adolescence. This poem born in such distress and fear will undoubtedly haunt your creativity. " Boy, you're goin' to carry that weight a long time." That's your poetic and personal mission. Its success, which is guaranteed by your commitment to poetry, will be redemptive.
oh yes, definitely you are right, some times the tragedy would inspire the poet more than every thing else, but the poet has to know how to use it, thanks for your reading and time, writing this wonderful comment...take care and all the best..
When I was a very small child, not yet at school, my mother, as a special treat, would buy me a pomegranate to eat (when they were in season) on the long walk home from the local shops. Being so young, I didn't understand that you could only buy them at certain times of the year and would long for them all the time.
