The monkey stared hard at me
Imitating him, I was?
It was clear his birthright
Who I thought I was?
I could feel a bit ashamed
How would I answer back?
Outside he was watching from
It was me behind bars

I love this poem. The tables were turned and guess who was behind bars and who was imitating who? Wonderful. Maybe the monkey will have the last laugh on us humans too?
A very good and thought provoking write once again! liked it...
That's a good one. As an animal lover, I always feel we are in no way superior than animals. We are superior only in our world. Our intelligence doesn't serve them. They never depend on us. Rather we do.
When two living things belong to the same branch of life's tree, there are tricks of perspective in their mutual view. One is custodian of the other's origins; one is forecloser of the other's possibilities.
This is poem sublimest, Kesav Sir! A thought-provoking poem with a deep philosophy humorous, bit ironical, but very cleverly written To MyPoemsList.

A poem of great depth. It invokes thoughts to ponder about. Cleverly written.
We think we humans are superior to every other being in this universe. How come this? Think how a virus works, for that matter. Thanks for your analytical feedback Rose Marie. Liked
