The Past Poem by Anna Banasiak

The Past

Rating: 4.9

the rustle of autumn leaves
lulled cats
cuddled on the porch

under the dark blue sky
full of stars
in the moonlight

I see parents
grandparents' house
burnt by war

listened to the croaking in the pond
the dance of leaves
dreamy

slowly I find myself
in the dark and bright
future

Dreamy with waves of vividness conveying a range of feelings, sadness and acceptance, euphoria and nostalgia. The poem changes in mood with the image of a burned house, a left turn that is both exciting and shocking. A true professional write. Well chosen for poem of the day.
