The Poor Have Souls Too! Poem by Eric Cockrell

The Poor Have Souls Too!

Rating: 5.0

the poor have souls too...
dreams, hopes, and desires.
their hands have worked the hoe,
pushed the plow, swung the axe...
have held their children,
and touched with love.
their needs are real,
and the same as all others.
their hunger raw and real,
their minds needing answers.
they dont need anyone else
to live their lives,
they want to live their own.
peace, warmth, food, and shelter...
and medical care!
doesnt seem like too much to ask.
the poor are still people,
and people need people!

A great poem, it's sad but true, the poor will always suffer, until the powers that be start to make a change. A great write.

unfortunately there will always be hunger and poverty, untill they realize the premiss of your work. It sounds kid=nd of sacriligious here but it brings to mind the Mel Brookes film History Of The World, whrnthe Emperor is adviced tha The peasants are revolting, his imediate reply is your right they stink on ice. Tht is the kind of mentality that the world is up against. Great poem Eric.
