Thinking 'bout My Baby Poem by Practicing Poetess

Thinking 'bout My Baby

Rating: 5.0

You're too far away to hold
Get yer head out of the clouds, I'm told
By friends and relations, who say
To concentrate on now, today.

But on your touch, I'm sold
Your kisses are worth more than gold
And blue skies turned to grey
E'er since you had to go away.

Outside your arms, I'm cold
I miss the way you would enfold
Me close to you, that way
And how I wished that you could stay.

The jet plane down the runway rolled,
And took you far away that day.
For January, I do pray
To get here soon, before I'm old.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
How distance and time apart can seem like an eternity, when someone you care for must leave. How you can feel so young and alive with them, but suddenly feel old when they're gone. How you await, their return, and bravely carry on until then.
My 4th poem inspired by my real-life squeeze, who is away on a long trip at present.
COMMENTS OF THE POEM

A poem of modern images-'jet plane', 'runway'; yet timeless love. The kind of feelings that I cannot express.

I'd be willing to wager, Michael, that if you can appreciate it, you are more capable of expressing it than what you realise! Given the right opportunity or just the right inspiration, who knows? Thank you so much for your favourable and heartfelt comment!

Praying for lovable January is greater aspect of life. Dreaming is amazing and expressing love with missing attitude to unite again is shining through expression in this interesting poem....10

Thank you, Lamar! Ever notice how those who write love poems, also have a deep appreciation for the love poems of others? I do so enjoy reading yours! :)
