This Flower In The Gutter Poem by ANDREW BLAKEMORE

This Flower In The Gutter

Rating: 5.0

This flower in the gutter now
Is standing there alone,
So lonely and forgotten for
No love has it been shown,
A seed once fell upon the ground
From which this flower grew,
And though it looks so pretty now
Such trials it has been through.

It's struggled in adversity
Survived there for so long,
And poisoned yet it grew again
Its will to live so strong,
The soil is thin and dusty and
Its roots aren't very deep,
It doesn't get much water yet
Its beauty it does keep.

And no one seems to notice it
Unseen from passers by,
And no one seems to care if it
Should live or it should die,
This flower in the gutter now
Still standing there alone,
So lonely and forgotten for
No love has it been shown.

Something so pure can still grow in unbearable conditions, if only we could notice them more....fantastic poem.
