Unfinished Times Poem by Hazel Durham

Unfinished Times

Rating: 4.9

The sun collides with my thoughts causing an explosion of scattered pieces,
Of unfinished stories, unfinished love and unfinished times,
I have lived half a life like the half light casting a creeping darkness in my prime,
Now the elusive sunshine buries my sorrows
And borrows
My soul to strip it of all my tomorrows,
As I weep
For forgotten moments and hurt that goes deep,
Hell is a place i know so well,
'Who am I, only part of that hell'?
With my broken past that gels
With shadows that climb and fall,
The sunlight makes my shadow seem tall
As my thoughts hit a brick wall
And falls, falls,
Falling like the cool rain
With all the hurt and pain
When the rain stops I will laugh again!

'' I have lived half a life like the half light casting a creeping darkness in my prime, '' - this is such a sad verse...and I so very much identify myself in it...but there is hope, as the end of your poem shows: '' When the rain stops I will laugh again! ''...such a gentle expression of heart, such strength...a great poem!

Wonderful poem about a very misunderstood condition. Depression can seem like a massive wall that can't be scaled.

I have lived half a life like the half light casting a creeping darkness in my prime, - - - - there are so many different maladies and diseases in the world that cast this half life shadow over the days of our life. Depression is one of them, a very debilitating condition for which different medications and combinations of medication are attempted. It is good that you share your experiences both for personal release and the education of others. Well-written, Hazel. And those last lines describe your courage, my dear. 10

When the rain stops u will laugh again...........Hazel, You have a strong heart, made of diamond that nothing else can break you but diamond itself...so be stronger and stay blessed...i know life maybe treat you so bad, but eventually things will be on the point, at the right place...no matter how dirty water is, it will separate dust and pristine liquid...you will be great...

Though the poem has deep undertones of sorrow and depression, I am so glad to find it ending on a positive note! Now since you had a good share of sorrows in the one half of your life, you may possibly conclude that the other half will be sunnier! After the sunset, there is always a sunrise! Such thoughts will fill you with a fresh zest for life...........

I like the title- Unfinished Times- it inspires the thought that one may be down but before it is all over, resurrection and renewal will come. well done my friend!

Deep down in the dungeon of distress and depression but rich in reality and realism. An inductive masterpiece that shines like the sun in a sublime climax that offers hope!

Pain write on depression yet concluded with positive hope. Half of the life gone wasted, one may feel especially when one turn back but that was the real challenge how we survived is most important. Medication can control depression to a certain extent. Seasons will keep on changing, bringing tears and smiles. All days are not the same. Let hope for the best as we are still alive.
