Upon The Breast Poem by Brian Mayo

Upon The Breast

Rating: 5.0

Wires crossed and coalesced
Notions tossed and second-guessed
Flickers lost and flames suppressed
Die embossed upon the breast.

how could the other readers find so much in here? about all i got out of it was somethin' about an underwire bra. i have a NO CPR..donate body to nearest med school-tattoo near my left breast. so it is close to Die. reminds me of The Scarlet Letter, a bit. bri :) not as funny, for me, as some of yours. that's ok, it shows that you have room for improvement! (unlike me)

This is a really cool poem. I like the way you've played with the rhyme scheme, the rhythm, and the placement of alliteration in the beginning, middle, and end of the words. Very clever. The poem itself is also meaningful. To me it speaks very succinctly about a failed relationship, star crossed lovers, feelings forever imprinted, but still a failure. Not a failure of a poem though. Compelling and well done. You've taken very familiar metaphors and made them sound new.
