Vincent Van Gogh 85 - The Kind & Generous Vincent Poem by Geeta Radhakrishna Menon

Vincent Van Gogh 85 - The Kind & Generous Vincent

Rating: 5.0

As autumn arrived with leaves turning orange yellow,
Margot and Vincent became closer and intimate.
Margot spent the whole day with Vincent.
The people of Nuenen watched them curiously,
Whispering and gossiping behind their back.
But they were unaware of being scrutinized,
Even if they did, they were hardly bothered by it.
Vincent continued to sketch and paint with passion,
While Margot accompanied Vincent everywhere.
Vincent accepted her love with gratitude, grace
And wished he had met Margot ten years back.
Ah! Life would have been so wonderful!

During this period, an unforeseen accident,
Diverted the people of Nuenen, from criticizing
A couple so much in love with each other.
Anna Cornelia, Vicent's sister fell down
While getting off from the train in Helmond.
The moment Vincent heard that his sister was injured
He left everything aside and rushed to nurse his sister.
What the people of Nuenen did not know
Was that Vincent was an excellent nurse.
During his stay in Borinage, he had nursed
A whole village of miners and their families.
Vincent was a very kind man with a generous heart.

Watching Vincent tending to the needs of Anna
With such tenderness and care,
The people of the vicarage were amazed.
They visited their house with gifts for the patient
But were wonder struck to see Vincent single handedly
Taking care of his sister, feeding her, helping at all times.
At the end of three weeks, when Anna was healed,
The people changed their opinion of Vincent.
He was no more peculiar, weird or useless.
Margot supported Vincent throughout this crisis
She knew he was gentle, kind, though was surprised to learn
That Vincent was well versed with human anatomy as well.

Margot had a pleasant surprise for Vincent
She gifted him a beautiful book named 'Anatomy for Artists'.
'But this isn't my birthday': exclaimed Vincent.
'No! ' laughed Margot. 'It's mine. My fortieth birthday.
Vincent, you gave me a present of my life.
Do be good and take it, dear. I am so happy today.
I want you to be, too'. Vincent was deeply touched.
It was the first time that someone had gifted him something
Other than his brother Theo. He touched the book tenderly.
Then, putting the book down aside, took Margot in his arms.
Margot's eyes filled with his tears with love for Vincent.
She gave in to his caresses and love, whole heartedly.

I am a great admirer of paintings. I am hoping I could see a painting of Van Gogh in this series; The Reapers In A Wheatfield. Probably there was an error in the system of Poem Hunter.

This is a very heartwarming series, my friend, Dr. Geeta. The kindness, empathy and good nature of Van Gogh are depicted wonderfully. One of the most inspiring parts of life of the great artist.
