Wapiti Poem by Cowboy Ron Williams

Wapiti

Rating: 5.0

Riding my horse
on one of my favorite trails
in the La Plata mountains,

in a favorite valley of mine,
hidden somewhere
below Lavender Peak,

we had to stop
and admire
one of nature's wonders,

a large herd
of one of my favorite animals,
the Rocky Mountain elk.

i think Susan will look favorably on any poem which mentions a (live) horse. Maybe even a lively 'hobby horse'. bri : )

Go ahead and rain some stars if you want. It's legal now.

Oh, my, I can see you on this ride, your hands low, the horse in a pleasing head-bobbing walk, and the breeze tickling your face---may you have a thousand such rides before the last one

It almost seems like you have seen me ride before! Thank you, Susan!
