When The East Awakes Poem by Neela Nath Das

When The East Awakes

Rating: 5.0

When the east awakes,
The west goes to bed.
The east then keeps vigil...
Until the day does fade,
While the east wants rest.
Just then jumping on his
Feet rises the west.

God has divided duty
In such a divine way!
We must not break His law,
To usher in the good day!

Yes, it`s all a matter of spinning on this ball we call earth, a nice description.

The amazing time differences in our world, so nicely described in this poem. I fully agree that we should respect day and night as much as we can. When I was young, people had a party from 8 pm till 12 midnight. Now parties seem to start only at 12 midnight.

Lovely poem with a wise message! May I invite you to read my poem Break of Dawn also with similar elemets, I'm sure you'll find it quite interesting. I'd be honoured to hear what you have to say.

I am quite inquisitive, Nilakshi Nath,1. why does the East keep vigil and Is there any specific reason for keeping vigil? 2. 'We must not break His law', which means is it possible for us to break the Law of Nature? Could you please explain? Thank you..

I relate it to the contradiction of time, between the gaps of east and west, its a really well pened and creatively molded write, one that draws a smile in me, wonderful Nilakshi! The_African_Son
