.
Has anyone asked the child
What she'd like to do?
Would she like to swim with dolphins
Before her life is through?
.
Does she want to see the northern lights
Shimmer in the heavens above?
Does she ask what the lights look like
From the other side of God's love?
.
Does she want to see the sun rise
On the plains of the Serengeti?
Does she ask if the sun rises
In heaven just as it does on Grandpa's jetty?
.
Does she want to see spinning teacups
And pirates sailing the Caribbean?
Does she ask if Heaven has a Disneyland
She could visit with the Galilean?
.
Has anyone asked the child
What she'd like to do?
Would she like to swim with dolphins
Before her life is through?
.
.
Yes, I asked my child
If there was something she wished to do
She said she would like to grow her hair back
And have more eyelashes than two.
.
She said she'd like to play
Instead of lay in the hospital all day
She said she would like to dance in a ballet
And never again live the color gray.
.
She said she'd like to ride a pony
And play dress-up with her kitty cat
She said she was tired of throwing up
And wanted to eat until she was fat.
.
Then she said her biggest wish
Was not to say goodbye
She has a few more things to do
Like making friends with a dragonfly.
.
So yes I asked my child
What she wanted to do
And she said she'd like to swim with dolphins
Before her life is through.
.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

Susan, will make this short because have already commented on FB. Remember this-the mark of a great poet - is whether they are able to move you, stir you. You did in this write just as you have done many others. Emotions from remembrances and also from our day to day life-in some of the sorrows we face and illness we are surrounded by-perhaps in loved ones, are very real and tangible. This write deserves praise, prayers, hope, love, miracles, and love. A 10++++++++. Keep your chin up. God has this and HE answers prayers-especially prayers by the number. So many miracles, Susan, so many. God Bless You, dear friend.

God bless and keep you, my dear bestower of stars and friendship

Thank you, Nosheen for reading and commenting. I fear there are way too many people today whose loved ones are battling cancer. May God strengthen them all.

Such a heart-wrenching poem that it brought tears to my eyes. And anger towards God for making children so suffer with debilitating cancer. I've been reading THE EMMANUEL BOOKS which attempt to explain such justification. Some of that anger is slowly melting away. And as I visualize your daughter swimming with the dolphins, I smile at God and thank Him for the healing and the joy.
