Witches' Brew Poem by LeeAnn Azzopardi

Witches' Brew

Rating: 5.0

Spinkle me a toenail of a toad
Before the caw of the crow
And gather the teeth of an old dog
Stir in the water of Deadman's bog
For the brew is nearly done

A cup of dust from the moon
And whole tongue of a loon
For the moonlight is almost dimmer
Let it simmer

But last put the old woman's boil
And the snake that is coil'd
Stir in the last of the brine
It's almost done
So, don't whine

Prepare the table
With dishes and forks
We are ready for the pork
And the brew is done to drink
Take a sip and don't think
For the party is ready to start
On All Hallow's Eve

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

A marvell! I am reminded of the brewing of Magic Potion by Druid Getafix, Asterix Comics. There are a number of other druids as well, who make guest appearances in one episode or other. I loved it. Of course, there are the witches of Macbeth in the background too.

Actually this remarkable poem deserves a Hundred. But poor me, PoemHunter allows a max of five, sorry about that. And sure, MyFavourites

There is a touch of Macbeth about Witches' Brew, and Halloween in general. I shall have my 'treats' ready for when they knock this year, but only wine gums, not chocolates as I'll end up eating them! !
