Felt those tremors
After he died
At first thought
He's not gone
Coming back
Woke up sober
To the terror
Pa cursed God
Not the same
Ma cried more
Not the same
Church home for Ma
Bars home for Pa
Home not the same
Without Gerard
Very sad and heartfelt poem, so well expressing the pain for the loss of a dear friend, like only great poets know how.
To lose someone so dear is always heart breaking yet we live on with their sweet memories. Wonderful tribute to the departed soul. *****
If a loved one died, life will be not the same for the family, especially if that person is very young. No matter what, but if kids die earlier than parents, this is the biggest tragedy in a family's life. Amazingly written, Richard. I feel deep sadness inside me.5 Stars full.
Sylvia, I too felt such deep sadness when reading about Gerard's death. I had to do something constructive with it. I wrote a few poems about Gerard and included them in my first book about Jack Kerouac. Those are the poems I'll be reading at the book launch.
A marvelous poem so beautifully crafted and executed. To my Poem List.
Sometimes death could alter the life of our loved ones. I hope and pray in God's time, their pain will open an avenue of happiness.

A beautiful poem with Kerouac's passion Bravo!
LeeAnn, your very positive response means a lot to me. Because I'm really getting psyched up with finishing the 1st book of The Kerouac
