Wondrous Love Poem by GREENWOLFE 1962

Wondrous Love

Rating: 5.0

The day was just like any day,
Though it was so long ago.
I can't recall just how it was
Before I loved her so.

I guess my life was happy then,
Before it came to me.
I just don't know, I'm not that sure.
I was a child, you see.

But it's this I know for certain.
It happened at midday.
An arrow shot from Cupid's bow
Brought Wondrous Love my way.

Twas then that I first noticed her,
A girl I always knew.
Though she, nor I, had dreamed of love;
So lasting and so true.

I barely could contain myself.
My face all flush with glow.
How was I to hide it now?
They all were bound to know.

We'd just come in from having played.
All quiet, now at rest.
Although I'm sure they all could hear
My heartbeat through my chest.

My Wondrous Love had come to me
As no feeling known before.
I tried so hard to catch my breath.
I looked at her once more.

Only when I stared at her
As I can now recall,
Could I be satisfied enough
To calm myself at all.

How great it was to be near her
And in such love to bask!
I yearned to be much closer still,
And almost deigned to ask.

Yes, all I did at school was dream,
And thank dear God above;
For giving me a chance to feel
Such overpowering love.

I loved her always from that time,
And asked of God no more.
She seemed to have them all in her,
The charms that I adore.

The joy I felt each time she neared
Gave warmth and made me smile.
I always yearned to make it last,
If only for awhile.

Then one dark day, she went away;
My Wondrous Love and friend.
Twas then, that others might believe
My love had reached its end.

But though it might have come and gone,
It was not so with me.
For she became my one great love,
I think you'll now agree.

The moments of my life since then,
Became these lonely years.
As sadness seized my loving heart
And soaked it with my tears.

So looking back, you know it's true,
As I knew even then;
I'd never know throughout my life,
Such Wondrous Love again.

oww, what an extraordinary love...tt was long ago but still fresh in your mind, , , , love comes and go........when it comes, seems you owned the: sky, moon, stars, ocean seas, air, wind and all the impossible things, ... but when it goes, all of the above disappear...that is life dear greeney..when you lost your real yours, seems you're lost too and take note, no one comes better than the first..i don't know if this is agreeable to you, .... we should smile for the past, coz we learned out of that, , be careful for the next, might we pass the same feelings which come and disappear.. you're so good in writing words in honest feelings.....so, this is your revealation ha? ...uhum.....that was 1962....how about the 1963, ......70......80...90's? ...hpe it will come soon...hehehehehhehehe...lav ya...thanks dear greeney....

i am deeply touched by this lines of yours....'The moments of my life since then, Became these lonely years. As sadness seized my loving heart And soaked it with my tears.' Your sadness was already soaked with your tears, and tears will flow and gone dried.It is better then to have it all wrap up with inner joy, and then..and then..and then..you can move forward and stay focus of whatever you wanted to do..Never to look back, but go ahead.I love the presentation of your write, from the beginning to end.There never was a dull moment, and you made the readers know the flow of the piece. Thank you so much for giving me the rare chance of letting me know a glimpse of your life. Oh, well, that is life..and it is only temporary..we will have a beautiful life there in our permanent home. Take care of, you my friend, and know that i care for you, too. Love and hugs, Meggie

Stunning and touching, so filled with love, but with a touch of sadness. Such a wonderful feeling... love... it does come and go, so wonderful to feel the affections of another, so hard to let it go. Beautiful and amazing as all your works.
