By the window I lie
Listening to the sound of autumn;
The cicadas shrill noisily,
And dense is their woe.
You've been away, my dear,
Far from me and our home,
For missing you I wither
And my hair will grey grow.
The wind of south has begun
To hasten falling leaves,
And the cold rain has got ready
To brew my new grief.
How long, alas, is your road back
And how far away?
For you I look and seek
On high towers night and day.

盼君归
依窗卧听秋,寒蛩怨声稠。
此去音容渺,思君欲白头。
楚风催落叶,冷雨酿新愁。
归路何迢迢,危楼频极眸。
You've been away, my dear, Far from me and our home, For missing you I wither And my hair will grey grow....lovely, lovely expression! Loved reading it....10
A wonderful poem that captures the feeling of loneliness mixed with a lovely description of autumn. A very touching write well executed.10
Autumn's sound is beautifully heard that is coming through window. Autumn gives beautiful feelings and a nice imagery is drawn here. The wind of south has begun to hasten falling leaves. A brilliant poem is excellently penned...10
Very glad you like it, headmaster. Autumn is so beautiful that it should become a key topic in Poemhunter like the other seasons.
A beautiful poem of yearning and impatience for the sight of the beloved. Excellently penned. 10
Thank you very much for the compliment, poem friend. It's a translation of the Chinese verse and i hope there is not too much loss of its style.
