A Monsoonal Whisper - Poem by Dilantha Gunawardana

My frazzled heart counting her miles
In her intricate labyrinths of solitude
Was flung open one midsummer afternoon
Under the torrents of the seasonal monsoon
When an undulating whisper of love
Reverberated deep within my soul
Like the murmur of a mistral
Captured in the depths of a mollusk's shell
To entrench within me a flicker of hope
That I, a survivor in the boundless desserts of loneliness
Will be harpooned by the spear of a huntress
A tempestuous soul basking in the shores of Eden
To shelter my brittle heart in her sanctuary of love
