A Plea Of A Flea Poem by Ahmad Shiddiqi

A Plea Of A Flea

Rating: 4.4

(dedicated to Mr. Michael Gale, a great poet at poemhunter)

chaotic nights
tortured knights
haunted minds
shreded curtains

who will be there
when all sorrow will scare?
who will be here
when all fellows be near?

turmoil, away in seconds
frightens safe havens
an obsessed human
mourns our autumn

why will we be there,
when all jewels become ashes?
why will we be here
when all crystals collapse?

rip greed off
fleece avarice
you find relief
with heart so nice

tear us selfishly apart
break status' rampart
you find liberation
and true salvation

O foam of ocean!
O fur of horizon!
come to peace!
come to grace!

O Eve's daughters!
O Adam's sons!
go to Heaven!
go to Eden!

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

wasn't really sure what it was about exactly but I enjoyed it. poems that don't really define themselves i feel are the best out there becuase it lets you feel however you want to feel about it. idk, i'm rambling. liked the flow of the poem and loved the simplicity of the last stanza. -Every rose starts out as an ash-Ashes 2 Roses :)

'tear selfish apart'... It is selfishness actually. These four lines are the key lines of the poem. Selfishness cannot be torn but transcended only with selflessness. This can be done only with a shift in our attitude. Our attitude towards life is the deciding factor. We should firmly believe that we are only an instrument in the hands of god- that we are sent here to serve this world in the best of our ways. We should not destroy the equillibrium of the entire universe. This is important. This is the selfless attitude.
