A Prayer - Poem by MORTEZ BROCK

A prayer

Now you lay me down to sleep
I pray the lord my soul to keep
If I should die before I wake
I pray the lord my soul to take
God bless my mama
Yes my mama even though
She done put me through
17 years of hell I still want
Want you to bless her
Because I know the deep in
Her heart that she cares. That she
Loves her baby boy but
Times of the past put hateful
Memories of her through my mind
That only seem as if forgiveness
Was not Enough to counter react the words of
Hate that came from her
So I Pray
God bless my father
Yes My. Father The man that
Had a heart of gold and only thought of his children before anybody else The man that you gave to me to teach me the
Way a man suppose to live
The one that you took from me
Before I could walk across that
Stage On my graduation day
