A Very Happy Women's Day! Poem by Sylvia Frances Chan

A Very Happy Women's Day!

Rating: 5.0

Women's Day
today is not Friday The thirteenth
but Tuesday 8 March
not April yet
March still waves her tail
and April does what he always will

Women's Day,
a name to become The Name
with worldly fame

we thought this is us
it would bring world fame-plus
not noticed in all those years
at least not by me

the Dutch would say:
'and the bullet went through the church
and we're stuck with the blisters'
I'm still doing my job well after all these years,
no blisters and no fears

I like to sit up straight
but not in the car
only if I have to pose for a passport photo

well dear ladies all over the world
sit on the right or just right or left in front of the photo
with a sincere smile
not just for your passport photo profile

I wish you a cozy women's day
the sun is shining all these days
he is shining full top
makes today a happiest women's day
bright hot sun for days, just like in Saint Tropez
we are still in the winter cold, hatshekidee! (dutch idiom)

the hot sun will stay today
I wish you all beautiful tutten-drinking tea together
don't forget grandma's apple pie
and the classic ginger cookies for taking away,
they are very tasty whether you like them or not,

my first poem about women's day
yes, they have accepted the lesbian and the gay
but their marriages eventually devoured
the transgender must keep their distance
you wouldn't dare to argue
they can be discussed
if that is a must

possibly now, what a hassle-tassel!
They are here too, of course with us today!

Still, I wish you all and myself, haha,
Happy Women's Day, olala!
