Odhana ra aadhuale
Kahin tume luchi rahi tha a
Tuma sundara chhala chhala
Pranabanta mukhatiku
Abagunthana tale dhanki rakhi tha a
Prakashara aaloka padichhi dekhha
Bahari aasa agana ra kharaku
Tumara hasa-luha ku banti dia
Tuma aanandare aanandita hebaku
Tuma duhkhare bhagi hebaku
Tuma aaganare
Chadhei, prajapati aau phulamaane
Apekhya karichhanti paraa!
Aago, deri nakari
Sahale bahari aasa
Aganara kharaku.

ଓଢଣାରଆଢୁଆଳେକାହିଁତୁମେ ଲୁଚି ରହିଥାଅ?
ତୁମସୁନ୍ଦର ଛଳ ଛଳ ପ୍ରାଣବନ୍ତମୁଖଟିକୁ
ଅବଗୁଣ୍ଠନ ତଳେ ଢାଙ୍କି ରଖି ଥାଅ?
ପ୍ରକାଶରଆଲୋକପଡ଼ିଛି ଦେଖ
ବାହାରି ଆସ ଅଗଣର ଖରକୁ i
ତୁମ ହସଓ ଲୁହକୁ ବାଣ୍ଟି ଦିଅ i
ତୁମ ଆନନ୍ଦରେଆନନ୍ଦିତ ହେବାକୁ,
ତୁମ ଦୁଃଖରେ ଭାଗୀ ହେବାକୁ,
ତୁମ ଅଗଣାରେ ଚଢେଇ, ପ୍ରଜାପତି ଓ ଫୁଲମାନେ
ଅପେକ୍ଷା କରିଛନ୍ତି ପରା! !
ଆଗୋ, ଡେରି ନକରି
ସହଳେବାହାରି ଆସ
ଅଗଣର ଖରକୁi

Why do you hide
Behind a veil?
Why do you keep covered
Your lively face, so beautiful?
See, how the sun
Shines on the porch
Come to the embrace
Of its warmth
Give away your
Smile and tears
See, how
The birds, butterflies and flowers
Have gathered
To share your
Sorrows and laughter
Oh dear
Don't delay
Come to this
Lighted porch.
I know Hindi and Bengali and with the help of two languages I understood the poem at least up to the extent that I can write a comment. Birds bring pleasure of vocal music every morning. A poetess is like a bird and poems also bring mental pleasure to a reader. A beautiful poem.
Thank you Akhtar Jawadji for your keen interest in understanding my Odia poem.Though you do not know Odia language, you come so close in understanding its meaning.'Abagunthana' in Odia means the veil women wear on their head.'Abagunthanabati' means the woman who is veiled. Asadharana manamohini geetatie hoichhi jahaku muu hrudayra nibhruta konaru bhala pai basichhi. Ehi kabitara pratyeka pankti hrudayasparsi o manamugdhakara hoichhi. Darshanika tatwa pratiphalita hoithiba ketoti dhadi mu ethare uddhara karibaku chanhuchhi... Hi Bharati, A lovely poem to read aloud; but Greek to me. I read it aloud and my wife threatened to lodge me in the mental asylum. Haha! Loved the rhyme, rhythm and the words- the serene voice of reading it aloud. So, I need a translation; ; Aago, deri nakari! (I hope, these words mean, Come, please do not delay?)

This poem is one of my favorite poem.It came spontaneously.Today I found that it has got lowest vote- (1) .I felt sad for sometime, not because of its vote, but for the person who has voted it without understanding.
