Albert Einstein 26 - Academic Career Begins Poem by Geeta Radhakrishna Menon

Albert Einstein 26 - Academic Career Begins

Rating: 5.0

In January 1908,
Albert changed his mind about rules.
He felt he should no more disregard rules,
Instead, try and follow it,
At least, for his own good.
He decided to create a new thesis.

He quickly wrote a new paper and submitted it.
It was named: 'Consequences for the Constitution
Of Radiation of the Energy Distribution Law
Of Black Body Radiation'.
The title looked so intimidating!
But, it worked well with the authorities of University of Bern.

Hardly, after a month of the submission of his new work,
Albert was appointed as a part time lecturer.
So, at last! His wish was granted!
He was clever not to leave his job in Patent office,
The salary that he received from the university was so meagre -
Inadequate sum, that would hardly suffice for a proper living!

So, Einstein's academic career began in April 1908.
This was a period when Albert juggled between
The Patent office and the University of Bern.
He taught ‘Molecular Theory of Heat' in the university,
While in Patent office, he enjoyed dabbling with gadgets,
At home, he enjoyed most, working with his 'Little Machine'!

What happened to the research paper
With a long mind-boggling title -
That Einstein submitted to get
An academic position in the University?
The paper was never published,
As it was abandoned by the author himself!
