Alone With Myself Poem by valentin savin

Alone With Myself

Rating: 4.5

Alone with myself
Today I've looked at myself,
And seen that I'm someone else.
A shrunken and wrinkled ELF
Taken from the darkest shelf.
The better half of my life's gone
I stay between twilight and dawn.
All seems gone and nothing left,
I'm a loser, my Sun bereft.
Alone in my gloomy room,
I'm waiting for the day of doom.
I'm hearing nothing, but silence,
I can't tolerate the defiance.
With a sorrow in my breast
I hope all ends for the best.

Let others fight and fuss
There's nothing left to discuss.
My earthly life quickly burns down.
The last day and the last candle,
All's gone and no way to handle.
What a dark night - still and void.
All illusions and hopes destroyed.
I beg to forgive me and forget.
Someone took my arm: "Not yet! ".

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I am too old and I am not immortal. Sooner or later my life will end. These days I am suffering from prostate adenoma and experiencing pains that give rise to anxiety and various thoughts.

Positive thoughts is one misses out in times of anxiety and illness. Good company is what one needs in old age.

Dear Sylvia, thank you so much for your comment, I'm sorry for the delay in responding. I was about to retire from the PH. Advertising annoyed me all the time. But today I got a message from RN that there are comments on my page and I decided to look in and respond. I will definitely visit you.

Thank you, dear Mahtab for your comment. You may not be as alone with me, as I am alone with myself. Not always, sometimes. :)
