An Age Of Innocence, Now Past Poem by Practicing Poetess

An Age Of Innocence, Now Past

Rating: 5.0

(A slice of nostalgia)

Saddle oxfords, poodle skirts
Bobby socks, and subtle flirts
Penny loafers, letter sweaters
Pin your girl; that's how to get her
Ponytails, and crewcut hair
Give her your class ring to wear
Visit the diner for burgers and shakes,
Food is delivered on roller skates!
Strolling slow, on down the line,
Rip it up at the hop one more time
Smooching at the drive-in movie
Curfew's at eleven, snoozy!
Top-down cruising, radios blare,
Driving along without a care.
Girls were ladies, way back then
And the boys were gentlemen.
Brylcreem and charm bracelets, memories fond
Of a special time, now gone.

Thank you, Lamar. Wish I had a Time Machine I'd go back there so fast, and it would be no dream! : -)
