Countable populace in total silence
No hustle-bustle and no interference
Still they opted to be a seclusive recluse
With many options before them so close
Their need of the hour the rishis rightly chose
To contemplate sitting in a stonelike pose
An installed posture with half closed eyes
Vision open within they pleaded with their gods
To bless with boons to reach their desired spots
Paying total control on their mental state and space
Their nonstop dedication to chanting their god's names
Helped to achieve their seeking by their gods' grace
It was that supramental dais whereat the sages
Well blessed gained occult powers to presage
Cosmic messages with longer life for ages
It was that supramental dais whereat the sages
Well blessed could hear the vedic verses
That was then transferred to disciples from sages
Penance was a purposeful solution for the sages
To get their wishes done through many ages
A clear mental path to God it was a divine voyage
Dear Indira Ma'm, a fabulous poem about the ancient sages of India and their relentless penance in quest of the absolute truth.
A vivid depiction of ancient penance. An informative write well expressed.
I love reading these cultural poems. Learning a lot more worthwhile stuff than in high school.
Penance deeper makes our minds sharper and lives worthwhile. That is what the ancient India has shown to the world.. great composition.
A philosophical poem so full of wisdom. As always, top score with pleasure....10

Your attempt to bring to lime light the dedication of great sages for LOKA SAMASTHA SUKHINO BHAVANTU is partly successful. The tradition of such Mahatmas passed onto their disciples, later on, lost its sanctity and so the impact became less effective
