'Four in the Morning" by Dame Edith Louisa Sitwell
presents a surreal and fragmented vision of a night-time world.
In this haunting poem,
ethereal figures and inanimate objects come to life,
evoking disorientation and alienation.

Mr. Belaker, the narrator wanders through a strange landscape,
where tropical leaves whisper like water,
white lace houses float away on the tide,
and the allegro Negro cocktail-shaker
questions existence and loss.

The dreamlike imagery invites readers
to explore the boundaries between reality and imagination,
capturing the eerie essence of that early morning.

I cannot find the rest of her poem,
so I write my comment as a poem!

The interplay between reality and fantasy is indeed very provoking. The crystalline images embedded in the poem make a reader at close range with the depicted moments. A great read indeed!

Cont.. A disorienting style that provoke and fuel the mind to dig deeper into the thoughts of the Poet and probably fathom what is beyond the poem.
