At Night Poem by LeeAnn Azzopardi

At Night

Rating: 5.0

I close my eyes at night
Seeing you in a white gown and a pair of wings
Not wanting to forget you like the other seem to do
i hold on to the memories that continue to perform
Sometimes, my hand crawls to the other side of the bed
To see if you're there
When i find nothing, it becomes a disappointment
Realizing you are never coming back
The tears cast my solitude into a torture
As my heart presists to break

Reading this tugs at the heartstrings. Losing a dear one is hard, but memories are a comfort. Nicely done.

A very touching poem. Death always creates a wound that will never be healed. A vivid depiction of loneliness.
