An amazing true story of a Crow Princess,
Addressed lovingly as ‘Kaka Tamburatti'
By her human guardian -
A hotel owner named
Sethumadhavan or Aniyettan.
For eleven years,
Every day, without a break,
This Crow Princess visits this
Hotel named ‘Dhenya Remya'
In the Thrissur district of Kerala.
The Crow Princess comes at fixed hours,
Flying straight into the hotel,
Sits atop a cupboard filled with food,
Waiting to be fed by the owner -Aniyettan,
With a fixed menu every single day!
Aniyettan feeds his ‘Kaka Tamburatti'
With ‘Pappadam' at 6-30 am
With Urad Dal Vada at 8 am
With fried fish and eggs at 11 am and 1pm
Thereafter, with snacks after 3 pm.
The Crow-Princess refuses to eat
If the menu is changed.
When the owner shuts his shop
Late evening,
The crow begins to cry and wail.
Many visitors come to the hotel,
Just to see this amazing ‘Kaka Tamburatti'
Flying in and out of hotel to eat,
Being fed by his true friend -Aniyettan
And his fond family members.
A bond so special, unbelievable soul mates!
A relationship so close, of a human and a bird,
An attachment so rare and exceptional,
An affinity of souls in garbs so different,
A wonderful way of spirit's warmth and tenderness.
This interesting poem has a touch of mysticism which spins the bond of affection between a crow and a caring human being. Thanks for the poem and for this special painting by the great R K Laxman.
‘Kaka Tamburatti' or the crow princess has drawn our attention and we feel the emotion reflected behind it. The Crow Princess comes at fixed hours and she is well habituated. We hear the evening crying of the crow and it signifies the emotional duty of beloved path. Visitors who come to hotel watch her. An amazing perceptional poem is very interestingly penned with broader term. Thank you very much for sharing this lovely work.10
