Black Poem by Kostas Lagos

Black

Rating: 5.0

Shadows seem dead
but there is life within

The serpent crawls
dark fire it breathes

Listen as the crows laugh
for this night shall stay

Tarantula's farewell
venomous kisses

Midnight's silent gaze
as the scorpion stings

Hide the moon
the wings of the bat

Forbid the stars to shine
echoes the owl's chant

You described black with great metaphors and that's what make this poem very special. Full *****

Kostas, I kind of like this, but 'WHERE'S MY FLASHLIGHT! ! ? ? ' I once moved a tarantula, I'd found in New Mexico, several hundred feet in its native habitat, but later thought I may have moved it too far from its home. ; (

'Tarantulas give some people the creeps because of their large, hairy bodies and legs. But these spiders are harmless to humans (except for a painful bite) , and their mild venom is weaker than a typical bee's

BLACK is the perfect title for this eerie poem. A darkly mysterious tone adds such great suspense. Love every single line!

I cite your two last lines, dear Kostas: 'Forbid the stars to shine echoes the owl's chant' Indeed BLACK. TOP Marks for this cute poem. I have enjoyed tremendously!

A brilliant and vivid depiction of utter bleakness and a state of complete desolation. Amazing poem.

This is a different poetic language, deeper and richer than the superficial one, indicating a rich and creative poetic experience.

Rare poetic images, few poets approach them; they are the true reality of life, or its hidden face, symbols with multiple meanings.
