Hearing squeals of laughter outside
I looked out...
Saw tiny feet running down the pavement
‘Wow.... See the flower in the air'
Echoed the excited utterance of a child
A golden haired girl with a baby grin
Surrounded by friends of her age
All pearly eyes were riveted up
Looking skyward they clapped their hands
Obviously she was referring to a butterfly
I watched the glee in their innocent eyes
And noticed their minds going crazy
Trying to give their tongues
A jump upon their amazement
Children-floating bubbles of wonder!
Heaven sent envoys with a divine errand
Easily they glide into a kingdom far beyond
Never vexed by the sharp stabs of life
They fill their days with fun
Blissfully innocent, without guile
Romping, laughing, kicking
Never in the flurry of adult faces
Such iridescent lustre, one can spot!
But in the blink of an eye
They would be adults
Doubt and fear clouding their world
Grappling with umpteen problems of life
Shutting themselves in the prison of thoughts
And getting tutored in the martial arts
To live in a world of sham and deceit!
How very true Valsa, your lovely piece brought back lots of memories, Innocence in its purest form. What a pity it is that we all have to age. Thanks Valsa
A delightful picture of children's innocence n carefree ways. How little things can make children happy n how everything in the world is a wonder to them. But what a nuisance that childhood cant last forever n you just cant escape the worries n troubles of adulthood. Well penned.
The poem reminds one of one's own early life of careless wonderful days. Beautifully penned.
I love the title of your poem: children- bubbles of wonder! - indeed they are! they teach us how to live in the present moment with hearts open to wonder, and spirits free. Even though the childhood years do not last, they remain in our memory as the most enchanting part of our lives! I very much enjoyed reading this poem!
Even the most hard hearted too is attracted to children's innocence Obviously she was referring to a butterfly I watched the glee in their innocent eyes. You have related Valsa George, this innocence and hard realities of life...10
Hey, Valsa! I relate to your reflection here but take comfort in the words of Jesus, Unless you become like children... It’s unavoidable to be schooled in the hard things of life as you point out here. But becoming jaded is another thing—which I know you know. Bubbles are delicate, are fragile. O but the significance they can have if we let them! And what seems so solid? Science teaches it is mostly empty space. -Glen
Part One- -We start out little bubbles of wonder but then we grow up and grow away from all this sweet innocence and therein lies the human tragedy... few people can retain that capacity of eager excitement for each new day. I really love this poem., Valsa- -you have made it both charming and tragic- not an easy achievement. Also onto my fav list!
This is a tragedy, isn't it? We ourselves started out with wonder in our chubby little hands and in our eager little eyes... I remember instances from my childhood- -my first encounter with a firefly back east, my first boyfriend in the second grade! ! , my father taking me horseback riding for the first time! Bubbles of wonder- -most excellent definition of children ever! ! ! 10+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++.
You have drawn such a vivid picture of childhood innocence. But what a difference it is in world ! ! 'But in the blink of an eye They would be adults Doubt and fear clouding their world Grappling with umpteen problems of life Shutting themselves in the prison of thoughts And getting tutored in the martial arts To live in a world of sham and deceit! Children are such joy. The most beautiful, innocent and full of life. God bless then all. Thank you Valsa for sharing some of your joy you received from watching children play.
