I drink my whiskey alone tonight
In my favorite bar
Wondering if anyone would join me
From the crowd of youth in celebrating
Their age of stupidity
But no one has
It's after midnight, the crowd is still going
When I cut out
And walking down the loneliest road in town
I turned around the corner and see
A young couple kissing in the light of the lamppost
I think to myself why can't it be me?
But no one wants to be with a poet without experience
So, I waltz on by
And curiously questioning whom will break up with whom
As the first light of the sun blinds me in oblivion
I see clearly into the future
A heart touching write indeed. The last four lines are so beautiful. Thanks. Nice share.
I agree with Richard, loneliness is that feeling of being unloved, unwanted and on alone in this world, a feeling I also experience.
If Charles bukowski was alive, or at least made better sense then he could, it would not sum the beautiful encapsulation of loneliness that this poem suggests. Bravo LeeAnn
What a beautiful poem! So wonderfully expressed and crafted. To my favorites.
Dear LeeAnn, you expressed this heartfelt poem so well. Ive been through this in the past, however god opens a door for us when we least expect it.
Poignantly beautiful depiction of loneliness! So relatable! Don't we all experience it? Bravo!
Cheers! ! ! ! I don't drink as well. but share same loneliness like you.

I would like to translate this poem
LeeAnn, you've so perfectly captured the essence of loneliness in this very sad poem. Leonard Cohen and Janis Joplin would be proud! !
