And God said
“Let there be light”
And there was light
To conquer the darkness
So too at Diwali
The little oil lamps
Adorning every home
Help to keep out the
Dark and evil spirits.
The fireworks light
Up the night skies
A feeling of love
And Camaraderie
Descends on one and all
The “lets celebrate “
Contagion effect is felt
Across the country.
Greetings are exchanged
And sweets distributed
Generously to everyone
Both the rich and the poor
Experience the joy
That comes out of
Giving and sharing
Even in recession times
Wishing all PH members a happy Diwali
thanks...a bright happiness i see in faces..a spakle in the eye of infants at the sight of those fire works in the sky

A very good poem on Divali Sandra. Surprisingly too good a poem, beautiful, you could simply describe and define Divali just like that....wow
beautifully expressed the essence of diwali....a wonderful poem ma'm..10
A well written piece Sandra, though I expected some twist at the end throwing light upon the mindless noise and air pollution that is such an integral part of the festival.
Hello Sandra your poem is superb..but Diwali is foreign to me, but if it is from the same God who said 'Let there be light ' and it was so... then you must be very blessed Fond regards Alf
