Fatigue Poem by Chuck Audette

Fatigue

Rating: 5.0

fatigue conquers me
running its hands along my body
reminding every ache
that it requires its tribute
only my brain and flailing fingers
cells of resistance, a dogged persistence
freedom fighters, fueled by friendly
contributions of caffeinated coffee
my stomach churns in protest
....already sided with the enemy

Each year a new pain. Well over the hill. Fortunately the coffee still sits well. If not I would shoot myself. lol Good write on what ails us. Rusty

Chuck, an excellent write with effective imagery - our bodies fighting fatigue as if it were the enemy. Loved the line 'cells of resistance, a dogged persistance'. You created a wonderfully lethargic pace - how did you do that? ! Warm wishes, Justine.

Can feel those hands of fatigue all over me - 'cells of resistance' calls to mind freedom fighters, a great comparison! You've captured the essence of exhaustion here... zzz
