How I wish to be an eagle
Perched on a promontory
Gazing idly at the world from a distance
To get lost in the vastness around me
In the stillness of this place
Let me toss away all my cares
And watch the curls of smoke
Rising from my snuffed out dreams
Action is now perdition for me,
Human company, lacerating pain!
Let me whisk away,
From the world of din,
A few moments of privacy
And stay awhile in loneliness,
It being my sole companion now
Not for long,
Not till sleep claims me
To redeem me of all my blues!
No… never…
But just for a while,
(Now and then, all of us
Need some space away from the crowd
I am never an escapist
To stealthily run away from life
But I badly need a little quiet now
To straighten my mangled nerves!
The longing for solitude is inherent in each one of us and so is the longing for company. But as the poem in the opening lines suggest, if we could view things from a distance dispassionately the things will look different. A sublime poem.
Everyone needs to away from the day to day buzz for a while to rejuvenate. Beautiful poem. How I wish to be an eagle - it is a coincidence that I wrote a poem Bird's View yesterday and posted it today before I saw your poem.
An interim relief for a quiet place far from the madding crowd is what soul sometimes very earnestly seek............. Valsa...........the very truth spelt out here very poetically............
Let me whisk away, From the world of din, A few moments of privacy And stay awhile in loneliness, .....the likeness of silence by you has been nicely portrayed. The power of silence should be felt by persons. One can know the power of silence only when he will keep himself away from the world of din. A beautiful poem is amazingly shared.
Quiet and solitude to quiet the mind is a soothing balm to life's troubles. One needs to have time to rejuvenate or heal. This poem takes you to the heights of space and quiet.
Yes, At times we do feel like staying away from crowd. We do feel like spending some time in solitude, This is actually good thing one can rejuvenate himself/herself and can again come back to face the harsh realities of life.
....we all need a break from hectic life, but i salute your imagination of portraying solitude through example of an eagle....lovely write
The poem proclaims a stage of humanising a poet not succumbing to reverses, dear madam and as such its message flies unto every habitat though this eagle just sits and sees. An interim to glorify into a protagonist`s haven in waiting!
