He's on his knees
arms outstretched
begging for a time machine
to take him back
He is the forgotten shadow
you see at night
a lost and lonely man
that time and the city has forgot
He used to have a family and a life
but then something went wrong
and the city just turned a blind eye
now he has no socks and no shoes
just his skin and his bones
he's the shadow that's lost his soul
Have you shown this series of poems to Leeds counsellors, I am sure they will change their ways after you put them on the map. Have a read of my poem Alone on the Streets, it is similar. Here in Swansea we opened all the churches last winter for the homeless to sleep in at night. It was a good project that saved a few lives.
Very well said poem on a heartfelt situation which we all have around the world, ...perfect words, The Forgotten Shadows that generally drowned their life in drink. Trouble is not many people do anything to help sadly I'm one of them...great work reagrds
An intense and heart-rending poem about the people who are not allowed to have a voice in society!
very good, reminds me of a few things that I wrote in the past.
