I Was Yellow Today
I'd rather be yellow than red;
sometimes I am orange instead.
We're speaking of blood pressure here.
Too much red and death is near.
Doc said my pressure was too high,
and I must check it every day.
I bought a monitor to try,
and let the chips fall where they may.
Three times per day I turn it on,
and this mainly what I've seen:
The mystery of the thing is gone,
and very seldom am I green.
If I could only figure out
why sometimes pressure is so high,
I'd be a millionaire, no doubt,
and think of all the things I'd buy!
Funny... in younger years my blood pressure was always lower than normal, but not anymore!
Thank you for this delightful poem about monitoring our health! For what it's worth, my blood pressure is similar to yours. I've found that limiting salt intake is very important.
Hang in there pal, keep that blood pressure down! Loved the way you turned a normal daily routine into a beautiful bit of poetry!
