It Feels Like Love To Me Poem by Practicing Poetess

It Feels Like Love To Me

Rating: 5.0

You shield me from the pouring rain
You hug away my pain
You touch your finger to my nose,
And make me smile again.
You're always there to show you care;
You're faithful as can be.
And though you haven't said the words,
It feels like love to me.

You buy me a new pair of jeans
When mine are worn and thin.
You open up my windows, and
You let the sunshine in.
Before I can get to my door,
You're right there with the key.
And though you haven't saud the words,
It feels like love to me.

You take the dryer from me, and
You blow-dry my damp hair
You walk behind me, take my arm
As I ascend the stairs
You give me your attention, and
You turn off the T.V.
And though you haven't said the words,
It feels like love to me.

You wake me every morning with
A phonecall full of cheer.
Won't let me sit across from you,
Because you want me near.
You bring me flowers and chocolates
You kiss so tenderly
And though you haven't said the words,
It feels like love to me.

You take me out to dinner at
My favourite restaurant
You say, 'Don't mind the menu,
Just get anything you want.'
And when the meal is finished, you
Get down on bended knee
I think I know what's coming, and
It looks like love to me!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Is this poem about a real person? Yes and no.
It's a composite of three men I've known and loved.
Put them all together, and leave out the bad stuff,
And you have the perfect man!

Actions do speak louder than words, and you have expressed the feeling of love well in this poem. I hear a gentle behind your words, kind of like Ed Sheeran's 'Photograph'.

What a sweet and lovely comment! (It's been said that women SPEAK love, while men SHOW it, being more action-oriented.) Thanks for reading, Carl! : -)

The refrain, ' It feels like love to me' is so right for the context. A well-structured poem with effective repetition of 'You'.

Well written. And I like your note about the poem. Most of the recent poems I write on love are composites.

Barry, this is SO ENCOURAGING to hear from you! It just confirms that Great minds think alike! We poets have an amazing gift of being able to combine just the right mix of life experience and fantasy, in order to obtain the final result of truly great poetry. This is so much fun! And writing actually improves with practice. Hope you are enjoying a wonderful day where you are.

Dear poet, I appreciate your rightness for which you mentioned in your poet's notes. we Indians and tamilians insisting chasity (a girl live with one person in his whole life) . so here male chavanism and men are hypocrites. your poem about your love and relationship to men are very frankly manner that I admired. expecting more from you.
