It’s Then I Know - Poem by Manny Negron

.Desperate loneliness.
.Where did everyone go? .
.Sometimes I reminisce.
.“How did I end up alone? ”.

.I’m talking to myself.
.It feels like no one’s there.
.An open ear is all I need.
.I just want someone to care.

.Well I know that you are always there.
.To keep me safe inside your care.
.You hold me closely in your arms.
.Protecting me, I’m safe from harm.

.The house is empty, there’s no one home.
.It’s then I know You’re there.
.My friends all left me, I’m all alone.
.It’s then I know You’re there.
.The clock is ticking, the moment’s gone.
.It’s then I know You’re there.
.I find myself wrapped in your arms.
