if i didn't know that scared by his own shadow*** was an idiom, i would surely have said: how can there be a shadow if one is in darkness? *** afraid/scared of your own shadow - definition and synonyms phrase very easily frightened Synonyms and related words Not brave or willing to take risks: cowardly, spineless, feeble... =============================== ok! don't call it an idiom! phrase, if you wish! ! bri ;)

It's funny how when alone in the dark every sound is very audible and it does make one alert. I would be jumping at every sound especially after watching a horror movie alone late at night.

Fear plays very funny roles sometimes, enjoyed the fun in the Limerick.
