Memory - Poem by Donald Yates

Pitter Patter rain drops falling
upon the pond and tree
Gazing out the window
brings' memories back to me.

One dark cloudy night
the rain falling down
Water running from the rooftops
was the only sound.

You were in my arms
the rain fell upon our head
Forbidden love has no bounds
for it has been said.

You belong to another
and I with the urge to roam
But for a moment I held you close
you with family and home.

Now I've wandered many places
over land and sea
And when I see the rain
the memory comes back to me.
