Milk And Honey Poem by Kumarmani Mahakul

Milk And Honey

Rating: 5.0

Do you think that milk and honey
Gives person happiness?
Do you think heavy rainfall?
Offers lotus brightness?

Do you think that a softy sofa
Brings a person sweet sleep?
Never think that milk and honey
Brings smile in melancholic's lip.

Plenty of wealth can't bring peace
It can only meet the want,
It can give worthy clothes to body
But it can't have the mind to chant.

In intuition you imagine deeply
Human runs after wealth,
Which can bring beautification of body?
But it can't bring mental health.

We shouldn't be finicky
As wealth is always transient,
We should run after knowledge
It is, because, always brilliant.

A spiritual person doesn't compare
Milk and honey with other,
Really we should meditate God
That brings peace without bother.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Poet’s Note about the Poem
Here poet says that plenty of wealth or milk and honey can’t bring happiness, it can fulfill the wants. In this manner poet narrate that softy sofa does not bring deep sleep. Heavy rainfall does not offer brightness. Though lotus is the flower of water still heavy rainfall is poison for it. In the rainy season we can’t find lotus. Milk and honey does not bring smile in the lip of melancholic. Human runs after wealth but it can’t bring peace. Spiritual person doesn't love milk and honey. He wants peace. If we meditate God we will get peace. This is the theme of the poem in brief. This is written in Deogarh, Odisha, India and is dedicated to the people of the world.

Beautiful! ! ! Most poets find it a bit hard to blend message, theme, rhyme and rhythm, but you have done some good work here!

Excellent, Kumarmani. Even science has proven the old adage that money cannot buy happiness. Peace of mind, love and good friends bring more than material wealth

Wealth can never assure one happiness.....! In fact, too much of wealth is an impediment to happiness! Real happiness springs from inside and is achieved through an active communion with God and fellow beings! So wisely put!

A nicely penned comparison values more with philosophical approach in narrating milk and honey. Roles of both the resources are specified. Thank you for sharing.
